14.5.3 Involving the examinee — hearing of the parties The head of the study programme decides whether the hearing of the student will be conducted in person, in writing or as a combination. For an oral hearing, the student will be summoned for a dialogue that aims to clarify the case. The student will be presented with the documentation of the suspected academic misconduct and will be able to state his/her point of view. The student has the right to bring a companion to the hear- ing. For written hearings, the documentation of suspected academic misconduct will be sent to the student in order to request them to write a statement of their point of view. 14.5.4 Sanctions against academic misconduct relating to exams If the suspected academic misconduct is confirmed to the head of the study programme upon clarification of the matter, the student's answer paper will not be assessed, and a used examina- tion attempt will be recorded. 70 If the student has already been notified of a grade, that grade will be annulled, and a used exami- nation attempt will be noted on the student's record. The student may furthermore receive a written warning. In aggravating circumstances, or in cases of repeated misconduct, the head of programme may furthermore decide that the student will be suspended from the programme or even expelled from UCN. 71 The student cannot attend lectures or exams while suspended. Similarly, the student cannot participate in activities at UCN, and any examination registrations will be annulled during the suspension period. Furthermore, the student cannot obtain pre-approval of credit transfer or be awarded transfer credit for any upcoming study activities or study activities that have already been completed at other higher education institutions for the duration of the sus- pension period. On expiry of the suspension period, the student may resume their studies. Regis- tration for examinations takes place according to the rules governing exam registrations. Expulsion from UCN means that the student's course of study and opportunities for study at UCN will be permanently terminated and that the student must return their student ID as well as any materials on loan such as library books, study aids, etc. 15. Issue of degree certificate UCN will issue a degree certificate 72 when all examinations described in the curriculum have been passed.
