Procedure In matters comprised by criminal and special laws the rector will first assess whether to reject the matter, whether to report the matter to the police, or whether to impose a sanction internally in the form of an oral or written warning or even suspension or expulsion of the student from UCN. The matter is considered based on its severity and damaging effect on UCN and on whether there have been previous incidents. 4.2.2 b) Violations of rules of behaviour not comprised by criminal or special laws In case of violations that are not comprised by criminal or special laws, the violation is at first dealt with by the relevant immediate manager or programme director. Procedure The procedure is: 1. The matter is reported: Everyone may report matters. Upon a reporting or at their own initiative, the manager in charge will open the case, and it will be considered by the manager. The rector or a person authorised by the rector will be informed immediately. 2. Clarification: Either the relevant manager summons the student in question to a meeting for clarification of the matter, where the student may bring a companion, or the manager asks for a written account from the student. 3. Decision and warnings: The relevant manager may dismiss the matter if it is unfounded; give an oral or written warning which will be entered in the student's study journal. The student must sign for receipt of the warning. If the student refuses to sign for receipt of the warning, it will be considered an aggravating circumstance; leave the matter entirely to the rector. 4. Complaint, if any The students are always entitled to complain about a decision, either to the rector or a person authorised by the rector or to the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science. 5. All that said . we know that fortunately only very few of our students break our rules of conduct. Of that we are glad and proud. It is a sign that we have a good study environment. We are therefore pleased that you are now a student at UCN and are able to contribute your competences and personality to a good study environment. *** University College Nordjylland 9/9
